This brought some life back to Shelton and he finally started to get to his feet.
Just when the match seemed to be slipping away from his hands, he broke his opponent’s serve and took a 2-0 lead at the start of the third set.

Shelton had several set points, but Sinner held his nerve and, under tremendous pressure, won the tie-break to win in straight sets.
The world number one praised his opponent for his impressive performance in the third set.
“It was a very tough match, especially the third set,” he said.

“As always, the atmosphere was amazing, so thank you to everyone.
“We have a lot of fun when we work (with his team).”
“We work for moments like this, so I can be at my best here.”

“It’s always a great honour to play in the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam, especially on this court, so hopefully it will be a great match to watch and enjoy.”
