According to the fundraiser, Mamie was in care at a Vancouver hospital when the accident occurred after a “medical emergency” on May 11. Her family shared that “Nicole flew to Winnipeg to help Mamie” and “was able to get there in time to save her life.” After being transferred from a hospital in Winnipeg to a hospital in Vancouver, her parents wrote that “her recovery is unclear at this time but she is alive and showing signs of improvement.”
However, a later update on the page shared news of an additional accident. “We are very sad to report that on May 26, Mamie, who had been in intensive care for the past two weeks, was carried out of the hospital’s secure unit onto a balcony walkway where she fell five floors,” the message read.
“He has suffered life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple major surgeries and is currently on life support,” his parents said. “We are all in shock at this extremely difficult time.”
