(WJW) – Walmart recently launched its largest private grocery brand in two decades, company officials announced in a media release Tuesday.
According to Walmart, the new brand, called BetterGoods, is described as “a new elevated experience that offers quality, unique, chef-inspired food at an incredible value.”
The company claims the improved merchandise prices range from less than $2 to more than $15, but most of the items hitting shelves under the new brand name are priced under $5.
Walmart plans to make at least 300 of the improved products available in the coming months, but company executives say shoppers can already find the items in its stores and online.
According to a media release, BetterGoods items will be available for curbside pickup and same-day delivery.
The new brand is made up of a variety of products found in all grocery stores, including frozen, dairy, beverages, snacks, soups, pasta and coffee.
Items fall into three categories: “culinary experiences,” “plant-based” and “unmanufactured,” the latter of which focuses on different dietary lifestyle options.
Walmart leaders said customers today expect more from the private brands found in stores.
“BetterGoods is more than just a new private brand. This is a commitment to our customers that they can enjoy the unique culinary flavors at an incredible value that Walmart provides,” Scott Morris, senior vice president of private brands, food and consumables at Walmart, said in the media release.
