This year the number of contenders for the green jacket has reduced.
What started as an 89-man field at the 2024 Masters Tournament was cut down to about 30 golfers after Friday’s second round at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
There is a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard that includes Max Homa, 2022 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler and one-time major champion Bryson DeChambeau, who all sit at 6-under.
DeChambeau held a one-stroke lead for first place through one round before shooting a 1-over 73 on Friday. Homa shot 1-under 71 and Scheffler shot even-par 72 to tie for first.
Nikolai Højgaard dropped from third to fourth at 4-under after a second round of 1 over. Cam Davis and two-time major winner Collin Morikawa are tied for fifth at 3-under.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods made history by making his 24th consecutive Masters cut, breaking the tournament record he shared with Gary Player and Fred Couples. The five-time Masters winner is tied for 22nd at 1-over after scoring even par in Round 2.
Reigning champion Jon Rahm has enough ground to secure a historic Masters repeat as he sits at 5-over. Rory McIlroy, who is trying to complete the career Grand Slam with the green jacket, leads Rahm at 4-over.
