Chipotle may have started National Burrito Day celebrations early, but plenty of other restaurants are offering deals on Thursday, April 4.
The burrito holiday occurs on the first Thursday of April and usually means burrito lovers can choose from specials and promotions at many Mexican food chains.
The burrito, meaning “little donkey,” likely originated from the mixing of foods in Mexico with Europeans who arrived after the Spanish conquest in the 16th century, wrote Jeffrey Pilcher, a professor of food history at the university. Toronto, in his book “Planet Taco: A Global History of Mexican Food”.
Burros or donkeys likely inspired the name “burrito” because street vendors sold burritos from baskets carried by burros and donkeys often also carried a cylindrical bedroll.

On National Burrito Day, when you purchase one burrito in the Taco Bell app, you can get a second burrito of equal or lesser value at 50% off (1 per user). This includes the Cantina Chicken Burrito, part of the chain’s recently launched Cantina Chicken menu, which is made with slow-roasted, marinated and shredded chicken.
Also on Thursday, April 4, these delivery services will have deals on Taco Bell orders:
- DoorDash: Get $5 off your order of $20 or more when you purchase a burrito.
- Grubhub: Get a free burrito on orders of $22 or more.
- Uber Eats: Buy one Beefy 5-Layer Burrito and get one of equal or lesser value free.
Baja Fresh: Bogo Burrito Deal
Buy a free burrito once at Baja Fresh through National Burrito Day by becoming a member of the Club Baja Rewards loyalty program (order online at bajafresh.com using code BURRITO2024 to receive this limited-time offer.)
Bubbaku: BOGO Deal on National Burrito Day
Bubbaku’s Burritos, the Mexican-fusion restaurant with more than 100 U.S. locations in 15 states, has a buy-one-get-one-free burrito deal on National Burrito Day on April 4. To get the deal, you must be a member of the restaurant’s Green Room loyalty program. Once you purchase a regular burrito at full price, your account gets a deal to redeem a free burrito at a later date.
Dog Haus: BOGO Deal for National Burrito Day
Buy one burrito from Dog Haus and get one free when you order through the Haus Rewards app on Thursday, April 4. (Must be a registered user to receive BOGO coupons in the app.)

Dos Toros Taqueria $5 Burrito Deal
San Francisco-inspired fast casual chain Dos Toros Taqueria has a $5 burrito deal on Thursdays when you sign in to its Rewards loyalty program on the Dos Toros app or dostoros.com. Also available: Get 15% off Burrito Box by using code BURRITOBOX at checkout before April 6th.
El Pollo Loco: Free Burritos on Instagram and App
California-based El Pollo Loco, with more than 495 restaurants in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Texas, Utah and Louisiana, kicks off National Burrito Day celebrations on Wednesday with a code for a free burrito or discounted burrito on its Instagram page. Is. (Good on April 3 only).
Then on Thursday, members of its Loco Rewards loyalty program will get a buy-one-get-one free burrito offer (good for a free burrito of equal or lesser value; not valid on combos). This offer is only for April 4th and can be used only once.

Farmer Boys has $5 breakfast burritos
Start your National Burrito Day celebration at a Farmer Boys restaurant – there are more than 100 locations in California, Arizona and Nevada – with a $5 Breakfast Burrito (usually priced at $10-$11) at Farmer Boys. The deal is good from restaurant opening until 11 a.m. Thursday (two burritos per customer).

Freebirds National Burrito Day $6 Meal Deal
Austin, Texas-headquartered Freebirds World Burrito is setting the price of all its Freebird-sized burritos, bowls and salads at $6, including limited-time availability Texas Smoked Brisket dishes. You can also upgrade your order to the Monster size for $3.

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop: Buy One Burrito, Get One Free Later on National Burrito Day
Fort Worth, Texas-headquartered Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is offering a buy-one-free burrito deal for members of its Fuzzy’s Rewards loyalty program on Thursday, National Burrito Day. Buy a burrito on April 4 and you’ll be rewarded with a free burrito with any $5 purchase April 5-30 (good for dine-in, to-go, and online orders, but not valid on third-party delivery orders).
Maverick and Kum & Go: 50% Off Burritos Deal
Convenience stores Maverick and Kum & Go – Maverick to acquire Kum & Go’s approximately 400 stores in August 2023 – Giving Maverick’s Adventure Club and Kum & Go’s End Rewards members 50% off burritos all day on April 4 (Limit 10 per customer). Both chains have breakfast and lunch burritos on their menus.
And Maverick’s Advanced Nitro card holders will get a free burrito on April 4.
Moe’s Burrito Giveaway and BOGO Deal
On National Burrito Day, April 4, get a buy one at Moe’s Southwest Grill, get a free burrito or bowl when you order online, in-store, or on the Moe’s Rewards app. (Good at participating locations nationwide; not valid with other offers or rewards, or third-party delivery. Service charge applies to online and app orders.)

Also on National Burrito Day, Moe’s will give away a free burrito to 100 winners each week for 52 weeks. For a chance to win, check in to your Mo Rewards account – scan to earn or redeem, order in the app, or scan a receipt – starting Thursday at 10 a.m. ET. You can also enter on Instagram and Facebook.
Pancheros Mexican Grill Burrito Giveaway
Pancheros Mexican Grill, an Iowa-based fast-casual chain with more than 70 locations in 13 states, will be giving away 10,000 free burritos on National Burrito Day. On Thursday, Pancheros will post a unique code on their accounts on Facebook, Instagram and x, the social network formerly known as Twitter. The prize will be sent to the first 10,000 fans to enter the code in the Pancheros app. Download the app and create a Burritos with Benefits account before gifting to receive rewards.

QDOBA Free Burrito Deal on National Burrito Day
If you’re a member of the QDOBA Rewards loyalty program, get a free burrito with the purchase of an entrée and drink at QDOBA on April 4th. You can redeem the deal in-store, online or through the QDOBA app.
Rubio’s Coastal Grill: $8.99 Burrito Deal
