Michael J. Fox had an “amazing” time performing with Coldplay at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival on Saturday.
The actor and Parkinson’s activist played guitar on the band’s hit song “Fix You” during the band’s headline show at the UK music festival last night.
On Instagram on Sunday, Fox thanked the Coldplay team and band members Chris Martin, Will Champion, Jonny Buckland and Guy Berryman, as well as manager Phil Harvey.
“There’s a time for every band and there’s a band for every time,” Fox wrote alongside a group of photos that included members of his team and him in a wheelchair in front of an “Optimism is a political act” sign. “It’s @coldplay time.”
Fox also shared a photo of a sign that read “Coldplay Special Guests” and a short video of the band backstage.
At the end of the “Fix You” performance, Martin praised Fox, saying, “The main reason he’s in our band is because we look Back to the futurein which Fox’s Marty McFly plays the guitar, memorably during the film’s 1955 school dance scene. “So thank you to our all-time hero and one of the most amazing people on Earth, Mr. Michael J. Fox.”
Fox and Coldplay previously appeared together on stage at MetLife Stadium in 2016, where the two performed Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode,” the song McFly played during their dance in the 1985 time-travel film.
At Glastonbury, during “Fix You”, Martin sang “Go, Johnny, go, go, go” a few times, in reference to “Johnny B. Goode”.
Coldplay drew a star-studded audience for their set, including Martin’s fiancée Dakota Johnson. Impossible Goal Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg and Gillian Anderson were also spotted in the crowd.
