Mamie Laverock, a 19-year-old actor best known for her role as Rosaleen Sullivan in several episodes of the Hallmark Channel series “When Calls the Heart,” is on life support after falling five stories from a balcony walkway, according to a GoFundMe page organized by her family.
According to the fundraiser page, which was set up by her parents, Rob and Nicole Compton, Laverock, after spending two weeks in “intensive treatment” at the hospital due to a “medical emergency,” was taken out of a secure unit at the hospital and carried to a balcony where she fell five stories.”
“He has suffered life-threatening injuries, has undergone multiple major surgeries and is currently on life support,” Laverock’s parents wrote. “We are all in shock at this extremely difficult time.”
According to the GoFundMe campaign, Laverock’s mother traveled to Winnipeg, Canada, on May 11 to help with Laverock’s “medical emergency.” “Nicole was able to get there in time to save his life,” the description reads. Laverock was then transferred to a hospital in Vancouver. At the time, his parents wrote that “his recovery remains unclear” but “he is alive and showing signs of improvement.”
Hallmark Media reacted to the accident with a statement Diversity“We are so saddened to hear this news about Mamie. As a beloved member of our When Calls the Heart community, we wish peace, comfort and many prayers for her and her family during this difficult time.”
Laverock fell from a balcony on May 26, more than two weeks after her initial hospitalization. The details of Laverock’s medical emergency are unclear.
As of this publication, the fundraiser has raised more than $14,500 to aid Laverock’s recovery.
Laverock’s “When Calls the Heart” co-stars have shown support for the young actor on social media. Erin Krakow promoted the GoFundMe page on her Instagram, writing, “I just donated. If you have the means to do so, I hope you will do so too.” Johanna Newmarch also shared the link on Instagram, writing, “I love this family, my heart is broken. This is a devastating time for everyone who cares for Mamie. Please help if you can. They need all the support they can get through this.” Loretta Walsh similarly promoted the fundraising campaign, writing, “Please donate and share if you can. Mamie and her family need our support. Link in bio. Thank you.”
Laverock appeared in nine episodes of “When the Heart Calls” from 2014 to 2023, including the premiere episode. Her other works include “This Means War”, “A Series of Unfortunate Events” and “The Hollow Child”.
