Prime Hydration co-founder Logan Paul has spoken out for the first time about a lawsuit being filed against his energy drink company.
Prime Hydration beverages allegedly contain ‘forever chemicals’, a court document recently made public during a motion hearing on April 18 states that the products are “adulterated, misbranded and marketed as are illegal”.
In particular, a lawsuit has been filed against Prime Hydration Grape Sports Drink after it allegedly found elevated levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFA) in testing.
These are synthetic, man-made chemicals that are known to be harmful to both humans and the environment and are also known as ‘forever chemicals’.
PFA can be found in food and drink packaging, dust, and even drinking water.
Third-party testing is said to have revealed ‘material levels’ of PFA in the drinks, including ‘significant’ levels of certain acids, according to the court document, which claims “PFOS ( The amount of perfluorooctanesulfonic acid, one of the PFAs, tested was found to be almost three times the recommended lifetime health advisory for drinking water within the product.
TikToker TommyTheLawyer shared a video about the lawsuit and Paul has responded directly to it on the social media platform.
Paul said: “Anyone can sue anyone at any time, that doesn’t make the lawsuit true and that’s not the case in this case.
“There are claims that ‘forever chemicals’ come from plastic, so in this case they are not talking about the actual drink, the liquid, Prime, they are talking about the bottle in which Prime is manufactured. Is.
“This is not a rinky dink operation – we use top bottle manufacturers in the USA
“The products manufactured by our company are certified by the United States Food and Drug Administration in accordance with all relevant current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). All of our suppliers utilize GMP facilities.”
Paul claims the study cited in the court document is ‘b******t’.
“They’re claiming Prime has 0.06 ppt (parts per trillion), but it’s interesting because the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) says anything under 1.1 ppt can’t reasonably be considered accurate,” Logan said, talking specifically about drinks.
“This means that what is being claimed in our drinks is 66 times the detection limit. This is just the detection limit – your own state will not take action unless it is over 40 ppt.”
Paul also responded to claims that the product contained worryingly high amounts of PFOS.
“We have a huge multimillion-dollar filter that filters state water, the water you drink at home, before it makes it to Prime.
“If these claims about PFOS and PFA are true, what is it saying about your state’s water?”
Logan then said that the company uses two of the three recommended techniques to remove as many PFAs as possible from the state’s water and that for the company’s safety, Prime Hydration retains samples of every batch of drinks it produces. .
“One guy did a randomized study and didn’t provide any evidence to prove any of his claims,” Logan said.
“Do you all remember a while back when they said the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) was investigating Prime?
“That never happened. They never called us because we followed every single guideline and regulation.”
Then he called Tommytheloyer.
He said, “We will accept the apology within the next 48 hours otherwise you will be representing yourself in a pathetic court for lying about our brand.”
Tommythelawyer has already answered.
He said: “Yo Logan, why don’t we go live and talk about this? Do you want a discussion or do you just want to threaten me?”
