Ian Gelder, British actor who played Kevan Lannister on HBO game of Thrones And the villain Zelin on am a doctor, has died. He was 74 years old.
“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart broken into a million pieces that I leave this post to announce the passing of my beloved husband and life partner, Ian Gelder,” actor Ben Daniels announced on Instagram. Daniels revealed that Gelder had been diagnosed with bile duct cancer five months earlier and “none of us had any idea that it would all happen so quickly.”
“He was my absolute rock and we have been partners for over 30 years. If we weren’t together we would talk to each other every day, Daniels wrote. “He was the kindest, most generous spirited and loving human being. He was an amazingly wonderful actor and everyone who worked with him was touched by his heart and light. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without him.”
“We are saddened to hear about the death of Lan Gelder. “One of the kindest and gentlest people in the business, Lan’s career spanned many decades,” Daniel Evans and Tamara Harvey, co-artistic directors of the Royal Shakespeare Company, said in a statement on X. He was a regular on the RSC stage. Since the 70s, he has given many memorable performances including his Antonio merchant of venice and clarence in Richard III. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
