Developer Atlus has said that Persona 3 Reload will not be getting an expanded edition like Persona 4’s Golden or Persona 5’s Royal any time soon.
In an interview with GamerWK, translated by Persona Central, Kazuhisa Wada, production manager for the Persona team, stressed that fans can purchase Persona 3 Reload with confidence that they won’t need to upgrade anytime soon.
Wada said, “Currently, we are not considering modifications from Persona 5 such as Persona 5 Royal, which included significant changes and additions to the original title.” “Fans can rest easy knowing that Persona 3 Reload delivers a complete experience.”
Far more than a Game of the Year Edition or similar product, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal added a significant amount of story and gameplay to the base numbered titles a few years after launch, typically expanding the already vast role. . 10 to 20 hours of play.
The original Persona 3 had two of these, Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable, both of which came years after the main game and featured myriad changes and improvements, like a post-game story and another protagonist.
Persona 3 Reload is a full remake of the original version, so it doesn’t include any of these additions, however, some fans are wondering if an expanded edition will be coming with this content. However, WADA’s assurances are in line with Atlus’ typical release schedule, as expanded editions typically arrive three or four years after the base game. By the same logic, a theoretical upgrade to Persona 3 Reload won’t arrive until 2027 at the earliest.
Persona 3 Reload is coming to PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X and S, and PC today, February 2. A Nintendo Switch version has not been announced yet, though Persona 3 Reload director Takuya Yamaguchi has said it’s not out of the question.
In our 9/10 review, IGN said: “With a spectacular visual makeover and countless small but impactful changes, Persona 3 Reload tells a timeless story of tragedy and hope with intense emotional honesty.”
