As we all know, social media trends come and go without warning, and seeing some of the best people at NBC take part in them is one of our greatest joys! On May 23, Today’s Al Roker also joined in the fun and gave an unforgettable performance that captivated the entire internet.
Al Roker took part in a popular social media trend
Video uploaded Today’s On the Instagram account, it starts out innocently enough. One of Roker’s co-workers asks the camera, “Hi guys, can you watch Al for a little while? I have something to do.” It seems like a totally normal request, with no mischief in sight, right?
No, your screen didn’t magically freeze. It was just Al Roker being Al Roker.
The feeling of having the whole world’s eyes on him seemed to stun Roker. For a full 15 seconds.
He did his best imitation of the famous Madame Tussauds wax statue for that fifteen minutes, and it was fantastic.
The caption read, “Have you ever had a staring contest with Al Roker? Because now you have.”
This particular social media trend has been gaining momentum since April, starting with a TikTok video that asked the internet to “keep an eye on their boyfriend for a little while.” Boyfriends everywhere panicked because the whole world was watching them, and as expected, hilarity ensued. As more people joined in, it became really entertaining to see how people react when they are told that the internet is taking care of them “for a little while”!
Al Roker has a perfect excuse for missing a recent episode. Today
America’s favorite meteorologist has been busy lately. When he’s not spending time with his adorable granddaughter or taking care of his still-recovering puppy, he’s doing everything he can to make sure the current generation of young men and women are better than the last. Roker’s absence was clearly noticed. Today Earlier this month, however, he had the best excuse: he delivered the convocation address to Fisk University’s Class of 2024!
This was the second time in Roker’s illustrious career that he has been selected for such an honor – a testament to his influence and passion for shaping the minds of today’s youth.
Forget America’s meteorologist – these days it seems Roker should be called America’s father!
