Veteran character actor Bill Cobbs died Tuesday in Riverside, at the age of 90, TMZ reports.
TMZ cited Cobbs’ publicist, Chuck I. Jones, as the source of the news that the Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Limited Performance in a Daytime Program for “Dino Dana” has died.
The news was Confirmed by People Magazine,
Cobbs’ brother, Thomas Cobbs, told TMZ that the suspected cause of death is pneumonia.
“As a family we take comfort in knowing that Bill has found peace and eternal rest with his Heavenly Father,” Thomas Cobbs said. “We ask for your prayers and encouragement during this time.”
Bill Cobbs was known for starring in movies such as “Night at the Museum” and TV shows such as “Walker, Texas Ranger” and “The Sopranos.”
He also appeared in “Air Bud,” where he said, “You won’t find anything (in the rule book) that says a dog can’t play basketball,” leading to the referee’s classic reply that “There’s no rule that says a dog can’t play basketball.”
