Howie Mandel has revealed that his wife Terri Mandel was injured in a fall in their hotel room after a trip to Las Vegas.
The “America’s Got Talent” judge recalled on “Live with Kelly and Mark” Monday that a “drunk” Terry, who had dinner and drinks earlier in the night, woke up and then “ran into a wall.”
“She fell and hit the wall,” Mandel said. “She hit the wall while falling down. She slipped, fell down, hit the wall in her eye, then fell to the floor and broke her cheekbone.”
Mandel showed photos of Terri’s injuries, including her swollen and bruised eye and a bruise on her forehead. According to People, she is “recovering” since the accident in February.
Mandel said he was awakened by his wife’s collapse. When he turned on the lights, he saw a pool of blood around her head, which “panicked” him because “she’s the love of my life. She’s everything I have.”
“You could actually see her skull,” he said. “It was split open.”
Mandel said that he picked his wife up and laid her on the bed. He said that there was blood everywhere.
Terry told Mandel to “bring me ice, bring me ice,” but the game show host was only able to bring cold cans of soda from the mini-fridge in the hotel room. Terry, apparently in pain, threw the soda cans across the room and asked for ice again.
Mandel then called the hotel staff and asked them to call 911. Security guards arrived at the door “within a second”, raising their eyebrows at the chaotic scene before them. Realizing the magnitude of the situation, Mandel made it clear to the security guards that he loved his wife and pleaded with them to help him.
He said they took her to hospital, where a drunk Terry, who had a sheet wrapped around her face, told doctors she couldn’t see on her left side.
“The doctor said, ‘Just take the sheet off your face,’” Mandel said.
Mandel did not say whether his wife remained in the hospital overnight.
But the television personality clarified that Terry – to whom he has been married since 1980 – is “absolutely fine” and on the mend.
“There’s no scars. She’s beautiful,” he said.
