Rock and roll king Sir Paul McCartney turned 82 on Tuesday and received birthday wishes from family, friends and fans, including Julian Lennon.
“Hoppy Birdie, Uncle Paul!” Lennon wrote. “Only love … Jude x.”
Lennon included a clip of the Beatles song “Hey Jude,” which McCartney wrote to console him in 1968, when Beatles co-founder John Lennon — Julian’s father — divorced the boy’s mother, Cynthia. Lennon is now 61.
British model Pattie Boyd, who married Beatles guitarist George Harrison at the height of the band’s fame in the 1960s, marveled at McCartney’s agelessness.
“Happy Birthday to the one and only @PaulMcCartney,” she wrote on X. “I just saw him announce some shows later this year… how does he keep doing that?!”
Harrison died in 2001, but an official Instagram account that continues his legacy paid tribute to McCartney with a simple “Happy Birthday.”
And McCartney’s big day wasn’t missed by the birthday boy either.
McCartney wrote on Facebook, “They say it’s my birthday today. And I can’t wait to be pampered by my loved ones!”
McCartney is showing no signs of slowing down. The Liverpool, England native announced on Monday the dates for his first UK tour since 2018. He’ll head to Manchester for two shows in December and then head to London for a few more.
