Director Parker Finn’s sequel to his surprise 2022 horror hit is set to release in theaters on October 18. The sequel sees Kyle Gallner return as Joel, alongside newcomers Naomi Scott, Lucas Gage, and Rosemarie DeWitt.
“Something really weird is happening to me,” Scott says in the trailer. “I keep seeing this face everywhere I go.”
Later she yells, “Stop smiling at me!”
Finn wrote and directed the sequel. Smilewhich was based on his short film Laura is not asleepMarty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner and Robert Salerno are the producers of this new feature film.
First Smile It centered on a psychiatrist (played by Sosie Bacon) who is troubled after witnessing a traumatic event with a patient. It grossed $216 million worldwide on a $17 million budget, and Finney had a first-look deal with Paramount.
Gage spoke The Hollywood Reporter Earlier this year, he revealed that he vomited while shooting for the film due to the intensity of the scenes. “I was really shocked at how intense it was that day,” Excitement the standout said at the time. “You just think, ‘Oh, it’s acting, it’ll be fine,’ but that movie is so scary. The whole crew was scared. That smile is scary enough in itself, and then you put the most terrifying scene on top of it.”
The actor praised Finn for recapturing the magic of the original film. “He takes it to the next level, and there are some really great cameos in this movie,” Gage said.
