The news that Krispy Kreme’s limited-edition “Friends”-themed doughnuts will only be released in the United Kingdom and Ireland has confused some American fans of both the television show and the doughnut chain.
The doughnuts were first featured in a joint post on the Krispy Kreme UK and Krispy Kreme Ireland Instagram pages on June 12.
He was officially announced the next day.
According to Krispy Kreme’s website, the doughnuts are part of a celebration of the TV show’s 30th anniversary. “Friends” premiered on Sept. 22, 1994, and ran until May 6, 2004.

Krispy Kreme UK said in a post on Instagram on June 16, “Dive into our Friends doughnuts collection and celebrate 30 years of the iconic TV show! From Joey’s ‘How you doin’?’ mango and passion fruit delight, to Ross’s ‘We were on a coffee break!’ cafe latte treat, and don’t miss Rachel’s trifle-inspired surprise.”
Krispy Kreme UK said, “Get yours before they run out,” referencing the 1999 “Friends” episode “The One with the Cop.”
The four “Friends”-inspired doughnut flavors are “Friends,” which is a glazed doughnut with chocolate icing, sprinkles and a white chocolate logo from the television show; “We Were on a Coffee Break,” which is a glazed doughnut with “cafe latte flavored icing, chocolate swirls, frosting and a white choc topper” with the “Central Perk” logo; “How You Doin’?,” which has purple icing with mango and passionfruit frosting, shaped like Monica Geller’s door; and “Trifle,” which is a “strawberry and custard-filled doughnut topped with chocolate curls and green sprinkles,” according to the Krispy Kreme UK website.
Krispy Kreme UK wrote on its Instagram page, “How you doin’?” The doughnut is vegan.

Fans of Krispy Kreme and the show expressed their confusion over the release on social media.
“I’m confused by the decision-making process. Friends was a huge American show (I know it’s huge internationally too, but come on), yet this is a UK thing,” one Instagram user wrote in response to a post about the new doughnuts.
The same user added, “I love seeing all these great flavors and snacks, but it also makes me realize how much we miss out on.”
Another Instagram user added, “I’m a huge ‘Friends’ fan and I would love to see these donuts in a Krispy Kreme store in the US.”

Another Instagram user asked: “This is an American show so why is it shown in the UK and not here?”
Another Instagram user commented a bit more sarcastic in their response.
“Yeah, when I think of ‘Friends’ I definitely think of Britain,” he said.
When asked if the doughnuts would be shipped to the U.S., a Krispy Kreme representative told FOX Business there was “nothing additional to share at this time.”
