It was a rhetorical question, but one asked universally.
Is there anyone else in the world who could inspire more than 60,000 people to travel far and wide to a small town in southeastern Massachusetts on a single night in June? Anyone other than Thomas Edward Patrick Brady Jr.
The greatest athlete on earth further enhanced his unimaginable legacy on Wednesday night, when the New England Patriots packed Gillett Stadium to induct Brady into the Hall of Fame. Even the fickle New England weather was glorious — 70 degrees and sunny. Those in power couldn’t imagine letting it rain on the Golden Boy’s parade.
Hundreds of former coaches, teammates and Patriots alumni returned to Foxborough for the occasion. World-renowned musicians Jay-Z and Kenny Chesney performed just one song each. Comedian Bill Burr called the opening monologue he delivered his favorite show of all time. The legendary Jon Bon Jovi told reporters on the red carpet that he would not miss the event at any cost, and for the first time in history, Peyton Manning received a standing ovation from Patriots Nation.
Current players attended the ceremony, as did all of the players who came before to hang the six Super Bowl banners above the stage. It was inspiring for them, as Deatrich Wise Jr. and Joshua Uche also confirmed when it was all said and done, to see what one person can do for the entire field by doing everything the right way.
None of the people who witnessed this event will be able to forget it soon. Ask those who were there to recall the event and try to describe this night in words:
