May the fourth be with you today.
That’s right, it’s Star Wars Day. Some of you may be reading this and saying “Is there a Star Wars Day?” What does it mean?”
Well, that means that on this special day, May 4th (which sounds like the phrase from the movie “May the Force be with you”) it’s a day for fans everywhere to celebrate the awesomeness of “Star Wars.” Franchise. This includes watching movies, going to parties, cooking Star Wars-inspired food, and just having fun.
I love “Star Wars” for many reasons, but one of my favorite things is the fact that it spans multiple generations of people. I know a 70-year-old man who knows more about the intricacies of the “Star Wars” world than anyone I know. He can each explain the different variations of R2-D2, because although he is the only character to appear in all nine films, each film has a unique robot.
People are also reading…
I also know a lot of kids who discover “Star Wars” every day, and their love lights up their faces. Now this is a phase kids go through… dinosaurs, firetrucks and “Star Wars.” It’s amazing. It’s something that sticks with people as they grow up and become hardcore teenagers and eventually adults, who all share the same love of a fantasy world filled with timeless characters.
It matches perfectly with the Eternal Love library. We have things for all ages that are “Star Wars” related. To start with, we have all the movies. In fact we have multiple copies of each of them! We also have something called the Fast Flix Box, which has all the original series movies that you can watch… and it only counts as one of your DVD checkouts.
“Star Wars” is more than just movies. We have Expanded Universe stories that take place in the same universe, but outside of the movies. These books are available in teen, teen, and adult collections. We also have picture books and books that get kids reading and excited about it. So no matter what age you are, we have the “Star Wars” book for you.
If fantasy isn’t what you’re looking for, there are also “Star Wars” cookbooks with fun recipes themed around the galaxy far, far away. There are also inspirational books like “The World According to Star Wars”, which is about the impact of “Star Wars” on the author’s life growing up. We also have an abundance of non-fiction books that talk about all things “Star Wars,” from film history to identifying all the ships and droids in the movies.
And if those still aren’t the books you’re looking for, we also have “Star Wars” Shakespeare novels. That’s right, we have four novels that have translated some of the movies into Shakespeare’s language. It’s amazing to see how much effort went into these creations.
I love Star Wars because I love seeing the joy it brings to all generations. Sometimes it seems easier to just see the differences in people of different ages, but there are no age limits when it comes to “Star Wars.” It is one of the few things in life that truly brings happiness to people of all ages. It may not be your cup of tea, and that’s okay…but for many people, it’s amazing. I can’t explain why, I just know it is.
