TAMPA, Florida (WFLA) – NFL star and Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was among 10 victims injured in a shooting at a Florida nightclub Saturday night after an argument turned violent.
According to NBC affiliate WESH, Seminole County deputies responded to Cabana Live in Sanford just after midnight to find a crowd gathered outside the bar.
As the crowd dispersed, deputies heard gunshots. Authorities said 10 people were injured, with non-life-threatening injuries, with most of the victims shot in the lower body. ,
The Texans confirmed on social media Sunday that Dell was one of the victims in the shooting.Stating that he suffered a “minor wound” during a shooting in Sanford, Florida.
The team said Dell has been released from the hospital and is in “good spirits.”
“We have been made aware that Tank Dale was the victim of a shooting in Sanford, Florida last night. He suffered minor injuries but has been discharged from the hospital and is in good condition. We are in touch with him and his family and will provide further updates when appropriate, but we ask that you please respect their privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in this incident,” the Texans wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
According to NBC affiliate KPRC, Dale was visiting his mother in his hometown of Daytona Beach, Florida. He was shot as an innocent bystander.
The sheriff’s office said the shooting started as an argument that turned into violence. After this a 16 year old teenager has been taken into custody.
The 24-year-old played college football at the University of Houston before being drafted by the Texans in the 2023 NFL Draft. During his rookie year, the star receiver gained 709 yards in just 11 games.
