Jon Bon Jovi has a lot more to confess.
After making headlines by saying he was not “saintly” in his marriage to his high school girlfriend, Dorothea Hurley, the rock star admitted to “getting away with murder.”
Bon Jovi, 62, spoke to Michael Strahan about his early days in the music industry during ABC’s “Halfway There” special Monday, joking that he “wasn’t saying that at that time in (his) life.” There were not 100 girls”.
“I’m a rock ‘n’ roll star. I’m no saint,” he said. “I’m Jon Bon Jovi. it was very nice.
“But if you thought I was ever going to venture into danger… there was anything real in me to believe in narcissism? What a foolish thing to do. What kind of excesses does a man need to stoke that fire? Provoking it? It’s not worth it.”
The Grammy winner praised Hurley, 61, for the way he “wasn’t afraid to call[him]out on something.”
However, he added, “She is also there when I fall. And I’m there for her when she falls. No matter where I went in my career, the ups and downs, we got there together.”
The couple began dating in 1980, four years before the release of Bon Jovi’s debut album of the same name.
The couple separated briefly in 1985 and eventually eloped in Las Vegas in 1989.
Bon Jovi and the karate instructor have four children — Stephanie, 30, Jesse, 29, Jake, 21, and Romeo, 20 — with the third making headlines for his engagement to “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown in 2023.
“Every day is a challenge and a change,” the “Livin’ on a Prayer” singer said while sharing marriage advice for young couples with “Good Morning America” viewers on Thursday.
He encouraged Jake and Brown, 20, to focus on “growing together.”
Bon Jovi’s documentary, “Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story” began streaming on Hulu last week with a screening in New York City.
Notably, Hurley did not attend the event.
The “You Give Love a Bad Name” singer’s rep tells Page Six that Hurley missed the screening due to the COVID-19 diagnosis, but is “feeling good and recovering.”
