Boston- Stacey Wakefieldwife of the deceased Red Sox Hall of Fame pitcher Tim Wakefieldhas died.
The family released a statement through the Red Sox on Wednesday confirming Stacey Wakefield’s death.
She was described as a “beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece and aunt”.
Stacey Wakefield was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her death, the family said.
Tim Wakefield, the legendary knuckleballer who won two World Series titles and spent 19 years with the Red Sox and Pirates, died in October. The Wakefield family was heavily involved in the community, as Tim was honorary chairman of the Red Sox Foundation.
Following Stacey’s death the Wakefield family said, “This loss is unimaginable, especially after losing Tim five months ago. Our hearts are so broken.” “We will remember Stacey as a strong, loving, thoughtful, and compassionate person who was equally down-to-earth. We feel very fortunate to have had her in our lives, and we take comfort in That she would do so to be reunited with the love of her life, Tim.”
