Brittany Mahomes has joined the Sports Illustrated swimsuit team. The former football player and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was announced as the magazine’s 2024 Rookie of the Year on Thursday. She will be featured in the 60th anniversary issue of SI Swimsuit, scheduled to be released in May.
In the announcement video, Mahomes is seen wearing a red one-piece swimsuit by Mugler and a bikini by Natalia Fedner.
“Britney has emerged as a symbol of modern-day power. Founder of the world’s first dedicated stadium for women’s sports, Brittany’s journey has exceeded all expectations, inspiring others with her tenacity and determination. “We are proud to welcome her to the SI Swimsuit family, where she will undoubtedly continue to empower women around the world,” Sports Illustrated Swimsuit editor-in-chief MJ Day said in a statement.
The SI Swimsuit announcement comes just days before Super Bowl LVIII, which takes place Sunday in Las Vegas, where the Chiefs will play against the San Francisco 49ers.
Mahomes is the owner of the current NWSL team Kansas City and founder of CPKC Stadium, which is scheduled to open later this year in Kansas City, Mo. The stadium is scheduled to open in 2015, the first football stadium built specifically for a women’s professional sports team.
Since retiring from football in 2017, Mahomes has also been working as a certified fitness trainer and raising her two children, Sterling and Bronze, whom she shares with Patrick. In 2022, the family was featured in Skims’ holiday campaign.
While supporting her husband’s career, Mahomes has also taken part in red carpet moments over the years. Last year, at the Netflix “Quarterback” documentary premiere, she was seen in a silver metallic off-the-shoulder cup dress by Alex Perry. That same month, she wore a Versace bra-cup dress to the 2023 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles.
