Red Bull F1 boss Christian Horner will face a hearing on Friday over allegations of inappropriate behaviour.
Red Bull’s broader company launched an investigation and said in a statement on Monday that it was taking the allegation and investigation “extremely seriously.”
The statement said: “After becoming aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being led by an external specialist barrister. The company treats these matters with the utmost respect.” “The investigation is being taken seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practical. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
A spokesman for Horner, 50, said he “completely rejects these claims”, although the F1 team had no further comment.
Sources say the allegation relates to controlling text messages and behavior towards an employee of Red Bull’s F1 team, although the company has not officially clarified.
Horner, 50, has not been suspended and is expected to work as normal at the team’s Milton Keynes headquarters pending a hearing.
Horner has been in charge of the team since its inception in 2005. Under his guidance, Red Bull has won six Constructors’ Championships and seven Drivers’ Championships, three of which have come consecutively since 2021 with Max Verstappen.
Red Bull is coming into the new season after one of the most impressive seasons in history, in which the team won 21 out of 22 races.
The new season of F1 begins with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 2.
