The NBA has suspended the Cleveland Cavaliers forward. Tristan Thompson has been suspended for 25 games for violating the league drug policy, officials said Tuesday.
According to an NBA statement, the 32-year-old Thompson tested positive for the performance enhancer Ibutamoren and the SARM LGD-4033.
He won’t be in uniform when the visiting Cavaliers take the field against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
The Cavaliers said they “fully support” the NBA’s anti-drug programs and are “disappointed with the recent news surrounding Tristan Thompson.”
“Being away from game action will have an impact on our team,” the Cavaliers said in a statement. “We stand with Tristan and offer our support during this suspension period.”
During his suspension, Thompson could still practice and travel with the team. The team said that on game days, both home and away, he will be allowed inside the field until two hours before tipoff.
Representatives for Thompson could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
While Thompson has a championship ring, which he won in his first stint in Cleveland in 2016, he is perhaps best known as Khloe Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her two children.
The player’s lack of allegiance with the Kardashians was part of the long-running “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” storyline, which continued in the family’s latest series, “The Kardashians,” on Hulu.
In an episode of “The Kardashians” that aired in November, Thompson apologized to Kylie Jenner for the family drama she caused by cheating on her half-sister with close friend Jordyn Woods.
“It wasn’t right and it wasn’t smart, it made it harder for you and Khloe because, at the end of the day, you have your best friend and then you have your sister, who you love more than anything.” Are,” Thompson said.
“So it’s 100% on me. I want to say I’m sorry and I feel bad about it. The fact is that I came up with my poor decisions and being an idiot and just being young and stupid. As such, I want to say again that I’m sorry for this.”
Thompson and the Cavaliers last played on Monday, when he came off the bench to score 4 points in 21 minutes as Cleveland beat the Orlando Magic 126-99.
