What will the interview process be like this week for Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn?
Johnson and Glenn have nine head coach interviews between them, which they can begin taking virtually this week. Campbell said both Johnson and Glenn are now scheduling those interviews and will be allowed to take them Friday afternoon after practice and during a short period after practice and before meetings on Saturday.
Glenn has been requested to interview for head coaching vacancies in Washington, Los Angeles, Tennessee and Atlanta. Johnson has been courted by Washington, Carolina, Los Angeles, Tennessee and Atlanta.
“They are qualified candidates,” Campbell said of his coordinators. “Those two should be at the top of everybody’s list. We’re in one of these unique years where there are a lot of jobs out there and that’s why they all want to talk to them, and they should.”
Campbell acknowledged that this puts additional pressure on Glenn and Johnson as they prepare for the division rounds and life-changing job interviews. Campbell is confident his offense and defense will be ready to win first and foremost this weekend.
How do the Lions better stop big-play receivers from moving forward?
Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb and now Puka Nakua have all got big games against the Lions in the last month. They all caught more than 140 yards and a touchdown.
No matter who the Lions play next week – Tampa Bay or Philadelphia – both teams have some major talented players the Lions will have to contend with.
Campbell said Nacua and all the explosive plays given to the Rams Sunday are improvable. She also credited LA for nailing some of the looks. It should be pointed out that Detroit is 3-1 in their last four games excluding underdogs, so as long as they play complementary football in all three phases, they can overcome them.
