Firefighters battle a massive fire that broke out at the South Florida home of Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire broke out shortly before 2 p.m. at the home in the 16000 block of Berkshire Court, a gated community in Southwest Ranches.
Aerial footage from Chopper 6 showed heavy smoke billowing from the mansion as crews poured water on it and firefighters punched holes in parts of the roof.
Crews were working to extinguish a fire that broke out at the home of Tyreek Hill in Southwest Ranches on Wednesday.
A large number of firefighters and police from several nearby agencies, including Davie Fire Rescue and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, responded to the scene.
Bob Taylor of Davie Fire Rescue said the fire was confined to the attic and roof, but much of the home suffered smoke damage. Taylor said it was too early to determine the cause of the fire.
Taylor said no injuries were reported.
Hill, the Dolphins’ star wide receiver, was practicing with the team on Wednesday, not at home, when the incident occurred.
A Dolphins spokesperson said Hill had left practice and said everyone who was home at the time was safe.
The footage shows Hill, wearing a white T-shirt, dark sweatpants and a boot on his left foot, returning home and hugging family members.
The fire appeared to be extinguished by around 3 pm, although a large hole could be seen in a portion of the roof.
Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said it was unknown whether the family would be able to stay in the home Wednesday night, but said Hill was grateful no one was injured.
“It’s very difficult for anyone to have their home on fire, but Tyreek and his family are handling it very calmly, as you might expect,” Rosenhaus said, adding that he is grateful to the firefighters who saved his home. “
Property records show Hill purchased the mansion in 2022 for $6.9 million.
The 9,300-square-foot home has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a home theater, a full-size basketball court, a giant pool, and two guest houses.
The 29-year-old Hill was traded from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Dolphins in 2022 and signed a four-year contract extension reportedly worth $120 million.
Hill is listed with an ankle injury on the Dolphins’ injury report released Wednesday ahead of the team’s Sunday night game against the Buffalo Bills.
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa told reporters that he learned of the fire after practice and after going to Hill’s house.
“The main thing is that his family is safe, his loved ones are well, he’s well,” Tagovailoa said. “I’m just glad so many of his family members are safe… We’re thinking about them, hoping everyone is well.”
