Overtime didn’t bode well for bettors, who received 2.5 points in Saturday’s Big 12 men’s college basketball showdown against the No. 11 Baylor Bears and second-ranked Houston Cougars.
Here’s what Baylor bettors expected after the frantic final seconds of regulation (ruled out a late 3-pointer after the buzzer) and overtime played out as the Cougars covered, 82-76.

Bear supporters who scored points were upset as Baylor trailed 41–25 at halftime.
Scott Drew’s team came back in the second half to tie the game at 69-69 on Yves Missy’s layup and a foul with 4.4 seconds remaining.
But Missy missed the free throw. When Jamal Sheed hit a jumper from well behind the 3-point line at the buzzer, Cougars bettors thought he had it covered, but replays showed his shot was late.
If shots had counted, Baylor would not have been able to cover 2.5 points.
On overtime!
The Bears took their first – and, as it turned out, only – lead 22 seconds into OT on Raze Dennis’ jumper.
Baylor bookmakers’ hopes remained intact when Messi made a putback dunk with 35.3 seconds remaining, but offensive goaltending was called.
Instead of cutting Houston’s lead to 75–74, the Cougars scored five consecutive points to take the lead.
Baylor missed seven consecutive field-goal attempts, while Houston covered 82–76.
The Cougars are now 24-3, while the Bears are 19-8.
